What is the ISIC?

The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) is the only globally recognized proof of student status. With this international card, you can access discounts in over 130 countries around the world.

The ISIC card is recognized by UNESCO as a document promoting student mobility for international understanding.

What do I need for the ISIC?

  • A completed application form (available in person from the AStA).
  • Student ID or enrollment certificate.
  • Passport, ID card, or driver's license.
  • 18 EUR.

You can obtain the card either from the AStA in Darmstadt or Dieburg. Alternatively, you can also have it issued at any other AStA office or at select travel agencies and student services (Please note: Sparkasse Darmstadt vouchers can only be redeemed at the AStA of h_da or the AStA of TU Darmstadt).

To use the virtual ISIC, you download the ISIC app, register with a profile and can then use the discounts and have your virtual card displayed on your smartphone.

Is the ISIC available for free?

Members of labor unions (currently ver.di and IG Metall) can receive the ISIC for free through their regional branch.

Students who open a GiroX-tra account at Sparkasse Darmstadt will also receive the ISIC for free. However, the voucher can only be redeemed at the AStA offices of h_da in Darmstadt and Dieburg, as well as at the AStA of TU Darmstadt.
